A Woodstock resident was slapped with fines from the Fire Department today.
WOODSTOCK - A call about smoke in a Woodstock basement resulted in fines.
This morning the fire department responded to James Street for a report of smoke coming from a basement.
Upon arrival firefighters found that there was no longer smoke in the exterior of the house.
Inspection of the house determined that the source was a malfunctioned basement sump pump.
They also found that there were no working smoke alarms resulting in two $360 fines.
The Fire Department would like to remind everyone to have their smoke alarms working and in the proper positions to keep safe.
