UPDATE: Snow Squall Warning Ends

Environment Canada says we could see about 10 centimetres of snow in the Woodstock area.

UPDATE 3: The snow squall warning has ended.

---

UPDATE 2 (November 28th at 6:30am) - The snow squall watch has been upgraded to a warning.

Environment Canada says most areas could be in for 10 to 20 centimetres of snow today. Here in the Friendly City, we're expected to get 10 centimetres.

The lake effect flurries and snow squalls should start to diminish later this evening.

UPDATE 1 - It's the calm before the snow storm in Oxford County.

Geoff Coulson, a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, says it's shaping up to be one of the biggest and most widespread lake effect snow events of the winter season.

"Right now the predominant winds are blowing west to east so most of that lake effect coming off Lake Huron is staying to the north. But as we get into the overnight hours and into Tuesday morning, we're expecting those winds to shift and blow from the north-west. So the bands off Lake Huron will blow north-west to south-east and will be more likely to get into the Woodstock area."

Coulson says that's when the snow squall watch could be upgraded to a snow squall warning.

"We might see that flurry activity intensify a bit overnight tonight and when those bands are really established Tuesday from the north-west to the south-east, we have the possibility of local amounts of five to 10 centimetres during the day Tuesday and some poor visibility potentially due to blowing snow."

Make sure you drive according to the conditions if you have to go anywhere.

OXFORD COUNTY - We're about to get our first blast of winter in Oxford County.

Environment Canada says we're in for snow squalls later tonight which could bring between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow. It could also be quite heavy at times with up to 5 centimetres per hour possible.

This means the roads could become quite messy in some areas and your visibility could also be impacted. Make sure you drive according to the conditions if you have to go anywhere.

The snow squalls should continue into tomorrow, but start to weaken tomorrow night.

A snow squall watch has been issued for our area.
