WOODSTOCK - The South Gate Centre is going into its big expansion with a budget of $7 million, but that won't cover the full renovations they had hoped for.
Committee Members originally had plans for a 12,700 square foot expansion, including a new atrium area, program spaces, kitchen upgrades, and a hall that can hold up to 400 people.
New information from the contractor shows that with the budget, they will only be able to expand up to 9,500 square feet, leaving some plans needing to be scrapped before construction begins.
Since January, Southgate has raised over $1 million towards the expansion. The remaining $6 million was funded by the City of Woodstock.
