South Gate Centre will get the keys to the newly expanded area before the end of the month.
WOODSTOCK - It's the ultimate Christmas gift for the South Gate Centre in Woodstock.
Executive Director Chris Cunningham shared some exciting news on the Heart FM Morning show today.
"We have expanded our space, doubled it in size, and we are on the home stretch! We get the keys to this expanded area by the end of the December and it is absolutely beautiful."
She adds there will be an open house it on Saturday January 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"It will be the great unveiling for the Reeves Wing of South Gate Centre and we are just so proud and excited to share it with everyone."
The expansion includes the Toyota Lounge area and the Botflower Hall, which is a multi-purpose event space with the capacity to hold 400 people.
The expansion had a budget of $9 million, with the city providing $7.8 million and South Gate fundraising the remaining $1.2 million. The construction contract that was awarded in the spring of 2024 totaled $7,178,890 (including HST) and construction crews broke ground in July of 2024.
You can find more information regarding South Gate Centre and the programs it offers online here.
Chris Cunningham called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday December 3rd. They talked about the expansion and the 12 Days of Christmas Lottery and you can listen to the full interview below:
