Almost all of the new cases today are related to an outbreak in Bayham. Public Health also confirmed 4 recoveries, including 3 in Woodstock.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is reporting 20 new cases of the virus this morning and 4 recoveries.
We currently have 45 active cases of the virus in the region with 12 in Oxford County. Most of the new cases in the region are related to a congregate living setting in Bayham. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:
Woodstock - 8
Tillsonburg - 2
Ingersoll - 1
South-West Oxford - 1
Bayham - 31
St. Thomas - 1
Aylmer - 1
To date we have had 7 institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. We currently only have 1 active outbreak at the Secord Trails LTC home in Ingersoll where 1 staff member has tested positive. 5 people from the region have died from the virus.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic.
