Southwestern Public Health Confirms 18 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

The Health Unit also confirmed 15 resolved cases today. Of the 18 new cases being reported today, 6 are related to the Caressant Care Retirement in Woodstock, including 2 new resident cases.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health has confirmed 18 new cases of the virus today and 15 resolved cases. 

We currently have 2 people in the hospital with the virus and none are in the ICU at the moment. The Health Unit is reporting 120 active cases with 74 in Woodstock. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

Woodstock - 74

Ingersoll - 13

Tillsonburg - 7

Norwich Township - 4

Zorra Township - 2

Blandford-Blenheim - 1

St. Thomas - 12

Dutton/Dunwich - 3

Aylmer - 1

Malahide - 1

West Elgin - 1

Central Elgin - 1

The Health Unit is also reporting 4 active outbreaks at long term care homes, including 3 more cases at Caressant Care Retirement home in Woodstock: 

Extendicare Port Stanley - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths 

Caressant Care Retirement Home Woodstock - 53 resident cases, 22 staff cases and 2 deaths 

Arches Transitional Bed Program Woodstock - 0 resident cases, 1 staff case and 0 deaths

PeopleCare/Tavistock - 47 resident cases, 38 staff cases, 10 deaths 

Trillium Retirement Home Norwich - 1 resident case, 0 staff cases, 1 death
