Southwestern Public Health Confirms 30 New Cases of COVID-19 This Morning

We currently have 160 active cases in the region with most of them in Norwich Township, Tillsonburg, St. Thomas and Alymer.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health confirmed 30 new cases of the virus today and 19 recoveries. 

We currently have 160 active cases with most of them in Norwich Township, Tillsonburg, St. Thomas and Alymer. Here is the breakdown of the locations according to Southwestern Public Health:

Norwich Township - 24

Tillsonburg - 18

Woodstock - 12

Blandford-Blenheim - 10

Ingersoll - 10

East Zorra-Tavistock - 6

Zorra Township - 3

South-West Oxford - 1 

St. Thomas - 27

Aylmer - 27

Bayham - 16

West Elgin - 3

Central Elgin - 2

Southwold - 1 

We currently have 3 people in the hospital with the virus including 2 in the ICU. The Health Unit is also reporting 5 active outbreaks at long term cares. They include PeopleCare in Tavistock with 2 staff cases, Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg and Bethany Care Home in Norwich. 

The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic.
