We currently have 142 active cases with most of them in Woodstock, Norwich Township, Aylmer and St. Thomas. The Health Unit also confirmed the 9th COVID related death on Saturday morning.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health confirmed 31 new cases of the virus this morning and 5 recoveries.
Over the weekend, the Health Unit reported 12 new cases on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. SW Public Health also confirmed the 9th COVID-19 related death on Saturday morning.

To date we have had 13 institutional outbreaks at Long Term Care Homes. We currently have 4 active outbreaks in the region is at the Maple Manor Nursing Home, the Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg, Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Bethany Long Term Care Home in Norwich Township. In all four outbreaks, a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. We currently have 3 people in the hospital with the virus including 2 in the ICU.
The number one symptom that has led to a positive test in the region is a cough, followed by a fever. Other symptoms that have resulted in positive tests include fatigue, headache, sore throat, shortness of breath and nasal congestion just to name a few. 17% of people who have tested positive in our region were asymptomatic.
