Southwestern Public Health will only offer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at it's mass immunization clinics from now on due to supply issues with the Moderna vaccine.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health will only administer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine moving forward.
It will no longer offer the Moderna vaccine at it's three mass immunization clinics due to supply issues.
This means those who have already received Moderna as their first dose will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as their second dose, if they get their next shot at Goff Hall in Woodstock, the Tillsonburg Community Centre or the St. Thomas Memorial Arena.
Those who would like to receive Moderna as their second dose will be able to cancel their appointment and so they can access the Moderna vaccine elsewhere. Moderna will still be offered at pharmacies and through primary care providers.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and the Moderna vaccine are both mRNA-based so they both offer interchangeable and compatible protection.
