Special Weather Statement Issued for Oxford County

Environment Canada is warning of heavy rain and strong winds this weekend for most of southwestern Ontario, including Oxford County.

A special weather statement has been issued for most of Southwestern Ontario, including Oxford County.

Environment Canada warns of heavy rain and strong winds starting Friday night, continuing into Saturday night.

Heavy rain is expected throughout the day on Saturday. Eventually the temperature is expected to fall and change to snow Saturday night with a strong cold front moving in. Some areas could get between 25 to 45 mm of rain over the two days.

In addition, very strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 70 km/h are expected to develop Saturday afternoon. By Saturday evening these winds are forecast to shift to the northwest with wind gusts up to 90 km/h possible, particularly along the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
