A local fundraiser is in the works to help those affected by the widespread flooding in southern Alberta. The Salvation Army is going to host a "Stampede Breakfast" on Saturday, July 6th. It's a free pancake breakfast at the Salvation Army Church and donations will be collected to send out west. Heading up the effort is Stephen Sears, Salvation Army Officer in Woodstock, who moved here from Calgary a year ago. He says the flooding in his former stomping grounds has been hard to watch. "As being part of the Salvation Army in Calgary, to see our large shelter totally flooded out, to hear how our hospice had to be evacuated...people who are at a most critical moment in their lives have to be evacuated, is most distressing." Those interested in volunteering or offering supplies for the breakfast should contact Stephan Sears with the Woodstock Salvation Army. "We're looking for volunteers to help flip pancakes, and to just show up and have a good time. We're hoping to have a petting zoo there of some sort and some games and activities for the kids. Something you would have in Calgary, we're going to have here."
