A group of people have come together to spread community spirit by helping with a variety of tasks free of charge.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the Faithway Baptist Church are showing some love for their community. They started an initiative called Love Your Neighbour, which means people will be going out into community to help others with chores and certain tasks for absolutely no charge whatsoever.
Love Your Neighbour team member Keith Graydon says he decided to bring the initiative to Woodstock after he witnessed great results in another community.
"I went on a trip to this place called Plessiville, Quebec and they did it there with such great success. They created a lot of unity within the community and I think we could use it anywhere, I think we could use it in any city or any town!"
Some examples of the chores the Love Your Neighbour team can help with consist of yard work, house cleaning, and dog walking.
Graydon adds they have even helped people move.
"We moved two people on July 1st weekend and helped them load their truck and load all their stuff into their new place. They appreciated it so much we saved them probably hundreds maybe thousands of dollars."
If you would like to fill out an application for help or become a member of the Love Your Neighbour team can do the following:
- Send a private message to their Facebook page.
- E-mail them at loveyourneighbour@outlook.com.
- Call Keith Graydon directly at 519-777-8216.
