The first stagers will perform A Mixed Up Fairytale and the second stagers will perform Into the Woods Jr.
WOODSTOCK - The next production at Theatre Woodstock will take you once upon a time in a land far far away.
The latest double feature from the STAGES program will hit the stage this weekend with performances scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Everything will start with the first stagers putting on A Mixed Up Fairytale. Director Pam Morris says it's about the Grimm brothers writing their stories when a gust of wind blows all of the pages around and mixes everything together.
"Cinderella meets the Wicked Witch at Hansel and Gretel's candy cottage, the different witches meet up, the prince from story is with Rapunzel in a different one, Mamma Bear and Baby Bear meet the Three Little Pigs, and the wolf is just kind of hungry."
Maeve McGinnis plays Cinderella and she says it's still the character we all know and love.
"I guess it would be a little different because Cinderella meets a bunch of different characters, but all-in-all I think she's mostly the same as the Cinderella in the movies."
A Mixed Up Fairytale has a runtime of about 30 minutes, and it will be followed by a quick intermission before the second stagers perform Into The Woods Jr.
Into the Woods Jr. centers around a baker and his wife as they set off on a journey to break a witches curse that's preventing them from having a child. Throughout the show, we also meet a version of Cinderella who dreams of going to King's Festival and Jack who wishes his cow could give milk.
The Into the Woods Jr. performance should take about an hour, which puts the entire double feature around 1 hour and 45 minutes with the intermission.
Tickets cost $15 each and they can be purchased online through the Theatre Woodstock website.
Pam Morris and Maeve McGinnis stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Monday January 19th. You can listen to the full interview below:
