Blandford-Blenheim Mayor Mark Peterson is asking residents to continue social distancing and stay the course as the small Township has one of the highest cases of COVID-19 in the County.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - The Mayor of Blandford-Blenheim has issued a statement after two more confirmed cases in the Township this week.
Southwestern Public Health has confirmed that all four cases in Blandford-Blenheim were not community acquired. Mayor Mark Peterson says Public Health did say they were concerned.
"Public Health did state they were somewhat concerned about the increase in positive cases, I feel that if we continue to physically distance ourselves and maintain strict hand hygiene, we can maintain these numbers."
Peterson says the closure of non-essential businesses and recreational facilities has been a disruption to all of our lives, but a necessity.
"If all of us stay vigilant we can slow this virus down so we can all return to normal life. Let's not waste the last five weeks of isolation and keep up the amazing work that has always made me so proud of Blandford-Blenheim. Life at this time can be very stressful and your Township council is concerned about your health and well-being. If you or anyone you know needs counselling call Oxford County Mental Health at 519-539-8055."
Peterson also encouraged anyone who needs support to check out the Helping Hands Blandford-Blenheim food bank on Facebook, or you can call him personally at 519-788-8654.
