A friendly reminder to everyone trick or treating this Halloween: stay safe.
WOODSTOCK - Halloween is just around the corner and the Woodstock Fire Department would like to remind everyone to stay safe.
Public Information Coordinator with the Woodstock Fire Department Lisa Woods says all kids' costumes should be safe to wear.
"For the kids we want to make sure they have safe costumes, that they not have long flowing costumes where they trip and fall or that could catch fire if they were near an open flame, like a candle or a pumpkin."
Woods adds parents and children should stick together.
"Make sure you're watching your kids and you walk with your kids, and walk in well-lighted areas. Come on down to the fire hall (Vansittart Ave). We'll have Sparky and candy down there, it's a safe spot, well lit, and just be safe."
She also adds children should use flashlights instead of candles so their costume doesn't catch fire.
