Stratford Police Briefs

Includes drugs, possession of stolen property, impaired driver and a number of vehicle thefts.

STRATFORD - Stratford Police had a busy weekend with 200 calls for service.

One of the calls lead to the arrest of an Exeter man who had outstanding warrant from London Police. Police say they pulled over his vehicle on Friday afternoon after an officer caught the man making an abrupt turn on Front Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, the man tried to escape on foot leaving a 28 year old woman in the car. Police eventually caught up with him and arrested the man. Then they searched the car and found brass knuckles, a disabled parking permit, marijuana, 41 grams of methamphetamine and a bag of heroin. The drugs are worth an estimated $4,300. Both parties were arrested at the scene and are facing numerous charges including possession of CDSA, Possession of Prohibited weapon, Possession of Stolen property and breaching a probation order.  Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.

Stratford Police also want to thank a concerned citizen who reported a suspected drunk driver on O'Lone Avenue on Saturday morning. Police arrived and found the vehicle stuck in a snow bank, and say it was obvious the driver was impaired. The 45 year old man from Stratford was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

Police are also preaching lock it or lose it after a number of vehicle entries over the weekend. Items that were stolen from the unlocked motor vehicles include  GPS and $3600 worth of camera equipment. Once again the Stratford Police Service is reminding everyone to ensure their motor vehicles are locked while unattended and to keep valuables in the trunk and out of sight from plain view.
