Environment Canada is predicting wind gusts between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour for this afternoon and the LPRCA is warning people to stay away from the Lake Erie shoreline.
OXFORD/BRANT/NORFOLK - A special weather statement is still in effect for Oxford, Brant and Norfolk.
Environment Canada says we could be in for wind gusts between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour this afternoon and they should continue through this evening. Strong winds can easily break tree branches and toss around loose objects.
The Long Point Region Conservation Authority also released a flood outlook statement for Lake Erie yesterday afternoon. It said the water levels in Long Point should rise about 0.64 metres to an elevation of 175.16 meters by the time this is over. An increase of 1.23 metres is expected in Haldimand County, resulting in an elevation of 175.66 metres. We could also see wave heights up to 2 metres along the shoreline.
The water levels should peak this evening and the LPRCA is warning people to stay away from the shoreline.
