About 1,200 students local high school students will pack the Reeves Community Complex on Thursday November 6th.
WOODSTOCK - Students from all of the high schools in Oxford County will pack the Reeves Community Complex once again for the United Way Student Stair Climb.
About 1,200 students from the seven local high schools will be participating on Thursday November 6th.
Megan Porter is the Resource Development Coordinator for United Way Oxford. She says the Student Stair Climb is quite the sight to see if you've never witnessed it before.
"It's fast and furious, it's loud and its fun! We have on ice games and the students do one full tour of the Community Complex going up and down the stairs. We have a great opportunity to engage with youth in Oxford County through this initiative, to talk about the work we're doing in the community and to crown a champion."
Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute (IDCI) has won the crown almost every year, except for 2018. That's when Woodstock Collegiate Institute (WCI) won the top prize.
Each high school raises funds for United Way Oxford ahead of the Stair Climb. The participating students raised over $34,000 last year alone, and the Stair Climb has raised over $479,000 total over the past 21 years.
It costs each high school student a minimum donation of $20 to participate in the Stair Climb.
Megan Porter stopped by the Heart FM Studio with Khonrad Mykulak, United Way's sponsored employee from TMMC, on Friday October 17th. You can listen to their full interview with Dan and Marcie below:
