Another election was happening yesterday across Canada.
Grade 4 to 8 students across the country cast their ballots for who they think should be the next leader of Canada. The results were fairly similar to what happened with the Liberals winning a minority with 117 seats. The NDP is the official opposition in the student vote with 107 seats, followed by the Conservatives with 90, Bloc with 20 and the Green party with 3 seats.
Locally in Oxford County students voted for Dave Mackenzie to represent them at Queens Park. You can see the results below:
- Dave MacKenzie Conservative Party of Canada; 611 votes 30.20%
- Matthew Chambers - New Democratic Party; 525 votes 25.95%
- Elizabeth Quinto Liberal Party of Canada; 361 votes 17.84%
- Bob Reid Green Party of Canada; 244 votes 12.06%
- Wendy Martin People's Party of Canada; 208 votes 10.28%
- Allen Scovil Christian Heritage Party of Canada; 74 votes 3.66%
The student vote wasn't too fair off from the actual vote, which you can see the results below:
- Dave MacKenzie Conservative Party of Canada; 28,473 votes 47.4%
- Elizabeth Quinto Liberal Party of Canada; 12,135 votes 20.2%
- Matthew Chambers - New Democratic Party; 10,873 votes 18.1%
- Wendy Martin People's Party of Canada; 6,535 votes 10.9%
- Bob Reid Green Party of Canada; 1,617 votes 2.7%
- Allen Scovil Christian Heritage Party of Canada; 468 votes 0.8%
