Perth OPP want motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to be on the lookout for each other this summer.
Summer is in full swing and Perth OPP have some safety tips for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
Motorists should be on the lookout for kids playing outside. They should also not always assume the pedestrians and cyclists around them can see or hear them coming.
Cyclists should make sure they are wearing a properly fitted helmet and ensure their bikes brakes, lights and reflectors are fully operational.
If you are heading out on a bike or even just on foot you should avoid wearing headphones and texting. You need to be completely aware of all the vehicles around you and not assume they see you, especially when they are backing up. Also make sure you’re wearing bright colours so you are easy to spot at night.
Pedestrians also need to make sure they stay on the sidewalk whenever they can and never cross a the road near a hill where vehicles might not be able to see them.
