The registration window closes this Friday.
OXFORD COUNTY - Back to school season has arrived, and United Way Oxford is looking to help families in need once again.
This Friday is the deadline to register for the Supplies4Students program, which provides families in need of financial assistance with gift cards so they can go back to school shopping
Executive Director Kelly Gilson says this means the students will be able to pick out exactly what they need for school.
"For lots of people who remember going to the store and picking out your backpack and that whole experience of back to school shopping, that can become a reality for families who are really struggling financially."
Students registered in the program will receive their gift card through their school in September.
This is the 10th year of the Supplies4Students program in Oxford County. About 350 students were registered during that first year in 2015, and Gilson says the program has grown quite a bit since then.
"Today we are sitting at 1,233 students representing 605 Oxford County families."
This program relies on donations from the public in order to operate and you can donate to the cause online here. United Way has to close the registration window early last year, due to a lack of funding.
