SWPH Confirms 74 New Cases of COVID-19 Over the Weekend

The active case count now sits at 225 in the SWPH region.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health Unit confirmed 74 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend and 49 resolved cases. 

This brings our total number of ongoing cases to 225. You can find a complete breakdown of the numbers, based on location here.

Norwich Township - 10

South-West Oxford - 5

Zorra - 4

Blandford-Blenheim - 3

East-Zorra Tavistock - 3

Central Elgin - 5

Bayham - 4

Southwold - 3 

14 people are currently being treated for the virus in hospital, including 7 people in the ICU. 

The Health Unit says 85.2 percent of residents 12+ have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 83.1 percent have been fully vaccinated. The Health Unit is also dealing with an outbreak at Caressant Care Bonnie Place in St. Thomas where 9 residents and 8 staff members have tested positive for the virus.
