Southwestern Public Health will be administering fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to adults over 18 at its pop-up vaccination clinics in Plattsville, Princeton, and Woodstock.
SWPH - Southwestern Public Health is ready to offer fourth doses of COVID-19 vaccines to all adults.
As of 8:00 a.m. today Ontarians over the age of 18 will be eligible for their second booster shot.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ninh Tran says you should wait at least five months after getting your first booster before getting your second, but the minimum wait time is 3 months.
“Immunologists have learned that the effectiveness of the vaccine, or the protection we get following infection, decreases over time. At approximately the five-month mark, it’s time for those who are eligible, to get a booster to ensure our immune systems are primed and ready to protect us,”
If you had COVID recently, you should wait at least 84 days before getting your second booster.
Dr. Tran says it's very important for seniors, those who are immunocompromised, and members of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities to get their fourth dose.
“Specifically, we would like to see anyone who is moderately or severely immunocompromised, everyone over the age of 60, and members of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, as those are the people at the highest risk of severe disease due to COVID-19 infection."
Southwestern Public Health will be hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Plattsville, Princeton, and Woodstock over the next couple of days.
They're going to be at the Plattsville Arena from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. this morning and Princeton Centennial Hall from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. The Woodstock Public Library will also be hosting a pop-up clinic from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.
All of the pop-up clinics will be walk-in only, so you don't need to be an appointment in advance.
Southwestern Public Health also offers a mass vaccination clinic at South Gate Centre in Woodstock on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This clinic used to be located at Goff Hall, but the health unit moved it to South Gate with reduced hours at the beginning of June so it can focus more on pop-up clinics this summer.
