There are some rumours going around, but Southwestern Public Health says there is no evidence to suggest getting the COVID-19 vaccine will impact a woman's pregnancy.
OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is looking to set the record straight when it comes to vaccines during pregnancy.
They note there are a lot of rumours circulating, but no evidence to suggest that taking the COVID-19 vaccine will impact your pregnancy. The Health Unit states that pregnant women with COVID-19 are 5 times more likely to be hospitalized and spend 3.73 days longer in the hospital. Pregnant women are also 10 times more likely to admitted to the ICU and more likely to suffer from severe illness.
The Ontario Science Table also states that it is perfectly fine for vaccinated mothers to breastfeed, stating that it is safe, effective and highly recommended by the Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health.
