The annual campaign addresses period poverty in our community.
OXFORD COUNTY - Today marks the 8th annual Tampon Tuesday in Oxford County.
United Way Oxford's Women United hosts the campaign each year to help address period poverty in our community.
Donations are being collected at the Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and Norwich, but Women United member Cassandra Benard says you don't have to buy a box of pads or tampons to help the cause.
"You can donate cash and you can even get into some reusable products. We collect menstrual cups and period underwear which are things that people don't necessarily always think about, but they are great because they have that longevity."
The donations will stay in the community they're raised in. For example, a donation in Woodstock will help someone in need in Woodstock, a donation in Ingersoll will help someone in need in Ingersoll, and a donation in Norwich will help someone in need in Norwich.
Melissa MacLean, another member of Women United, says the campaign will wrap up with three special events tonight; one at the Kelsey's Roadhouse in Woodstock, one at the Kelsey's Roadhouse in Tillsonburg, and one at Scotch & Ponder in Ingersoll.
"You can go in, drop off the donation and feel free to visit, socialize, network and learn a little bit more!"
All events will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. this evening.
