United Way Oxford will be hosting Tampon Tuesday donation events at all Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Oxford County tomorrow.
OXFORD COUNTY - Tampon Tuesday is about to take over Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Oxford County.
United Way Oxford is set to host drive thru donation events at the locations in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Norwich tomorrow from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Resource Development Manager Amanda Kreiger says they're going to collect donations of pads, tampons and other menstrual products.
"It has also been great to see over the last few years the increase in the donations of Diva Cups because they are reuseable. So if women are comfortable using them we have had them to distribute as well and it's a one time investment for months to come."
Cash donations will also be accepted and all of the proceeds will stay in the community they're collected in. You can find a list of participating stores and the organizations they will be collecting for below;
Shoppers Drug Mart - Ingersoll
120 Thames Street North
Proceeds to benefit Salvation Army Food Bank
Shoppers Drug Mart - Tillsonburg
200 Broadway Street
Proceeds to benefit Helping Hands Food Bank
Shoppers Drug Mart - Norwich
19 Stover Street North
Proceeds to benefit Norwich Food Bank
Shoppers Drug Mart - both locations in Woodstock
959 Dundas Street East and 333 Dundas Street West
Proceeds to benefit Community Health Centre, Salvation Army, DASO, Ingamo Family Homes and the Women's Employment Resource Centre.
Resource Development Manager Amanda Kreiger says the campaign brought in over 1,150 of menstrual products in 2020.
"We would love to reach what we made last year and if we could raise 1,000 boxes just because we know how far that support reached last year. If we can get more than that I know the need is there this year so we're hoping to raise as much as we can."
Last year's Tampon Tuesday fundraiser took place right before the first COVID-19 lockdown hit in March 2020. United Way Oxford usually hosts a big donation event in Woodstock but it can't this year due to the current restrictions.
