Tavistock Braves Ready to Hit the Ice

The Tavistock Braves are ready to be real contenders and aim to be a 500 club this year.

TAVISTOCK - It should be another exciting year of Tavistock Braves hockey.

The Junior C Club is putting the final touches on their roster as they get set to start the season on September 11th on the road against Delhi. Tavistock's first home game is the following Friday as they take on the Travellers once again. Head Coach and General Manager Jamie Petrie tells Heart FM he thinks they will have a competitive team this year.

"After Ayr the league is pretty well wide open. That being said we are still young, we are still in the process stage where we are not where we want to be as far as a team that will compete for a championship every single year, that is the end all goal. So we will have our ups and downs this year but we will have a competitive and exciting hockey team."

Petrie says they plan on being a 500 club this year which means they will be competitive every night and could make some noise later in the season if the young players continue to develop. The Braves are also hosting a Think Pink breast cancer awareness night on October 9th against the Woodstock Navy Vets.

Both teams will be wearing pink and the Braves will be looking to raise some money and awareness for Breast Cancer. The Braves will be wearing custom made pink jerseys and will be supplying the Navy Vets with pink tape and laces for the game.
