Taxable items can be things like toilet paper, toothpaste, laundry detergent and other essential items that all have tax added to them. The drive goes from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm tomorrow.
INGERSOLL - A taxable item drive is happening at the Giant Tiger in Ingersoll on Friday for Operation Sharing.
Taxable items are things like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, dish soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, tooth brushes and other essentials that all have a tax added to them.
Operation Sharing's Food for Friends program offers people a food card they can use to purchase their own groceries. It allows people to make their own choices and shop with dignity, however the card only works on foods that do not carry a tax, like produce, meat and dairy. Operation Sharing always carries some taxable items on hand to give out to their clients.
Volunteer Chris Eby says the cupboards are currently bare and they need some help.
"With the pandemic and the things that are going on, our offices, Food for Friends have so busy and we are running out of things because are having a hard time coping with things. Our Food for Friends clients are having a hard time because of the pandemic, they can't always get what they need."
The taxable item drive is happening this Friday September 18th at the Giant Tiger in Ingersoll from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
