Teaching Kids To Cook

Woodstock kids have been building their culinary skills through a Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

WOODSTOCK - Some Big Brothers Big Sisters youth can now cook for their family.

Executive Director Kristen Ralph says this is thanks to a program, where three local chefs taught kids how to prepare a proper meal.

"We started talking about, wouldn't it be great if we could get local chefs involved and have them learn how to cook a whole meal and present that to their families and other people. So we worked and we got it running and it's happening. So that's fantastic."

The eight week program saw the chefs meet with the kids once a week.

Ralph says everything will wrap up on Monday with a special meal.

"The kids are inviting a few members of their family. We're going to have just a small group so we don't intimidate the kids too much. But they're going to cook the meal and prepare the meal with the chef and present that meal to a small group of people."
