A 17 year old has lost his license for 7 days after getting caught doing twice the posted speed limit and then some according to police.
Oxford OPP stopped the teen heading west bound on Highway 19 east of the 1st Line in Zorra Township on Wednesday night. Police say the car had four teens inside and was travelling 188km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone. The 17 year old driver was charged with race a motor vehicle and had his license suspended and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Constable Lisa Naranscik says "Drivers who engage in high risk driving behaviour put everyone at risk including their passengers. Speeding makes it difficult for drivers to react to change, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injury or death will occur. OPP would like to remind the young drivers that having your licence is a privilege that can and will be removed. Drive safely and arrive alive."
