A concerned citizen is being hailed a hero, after saving a teenager from human trafficking on Rest Acres Road in Paris.
PARIS - The concerned person called police after noticing suspicious behaviour at a local business in Paris on Saturday morning around 9:45.
They thought something was off and police quickly arrived to the scene. With the help of the citizen, police located the involved persons nearby. One of the people they found was a 17 year old victim of human trafficking.
An investigation is still ongoing and two people were arrested.
24 year old Julian Ayette Griedroyc of Scarborough and 19 year old Stacie Buster Gibson were both charged with traffic in persons under 18 years of age and failure to comply with a release order.
Human trafficking involves the recruitment, transportation or harbouring of persons for the purposes of exploitation. It does not require the crossing of borders or any movement of persons. Exploitation is the key element of the offence.
Brant OPP say this incident is reminder that human trafficking is not confined to big cities.
