Since 1980, Woodstock has raised over $530,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation. The goal for this year is to raise $30,000.
WOODSTOCK - The Terry Fox run is back in-person this weekend, after two-years of virtual events.
Chair John Versaevel says the fundraiser will be taking place in Southside Park, but the new location will be the only difference compared to other pre-COVID years, with fewer hills on the run.
"It's going to be a regular Terry Fox Run. It's a family event where you register and people can run, walk or bike the courses."
It's still not too late to register. You can show up that morning at 9:00 a.m. to register in the Southside Park pavillion, and then the opening ceremony will be take place at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers will be on site collecting donations and pledge sheets until 12:00 p.m.
Since 1980, Woodstock has raised over $530,000. Versaevel would like to raise $30,000 this year.
"All of the Terry Fox money from here goes directly to the Foundation. Nothing is kept here for expenses or anything of that sort. It's all set aside for cancer research."
If you'd like to help raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation prior to the run, the Woodstock Navy Vets have partnered with them, and volunteers will be at the free home opener at Southwood Arena tomorrow.
