The Thames Valley District School Board is recognizing members of staff for their extraordinary work and outstanding commitment to public education.
25 recipients and 32 nominees from across the Thames Valley District School Board will be honoured on Tuesday night with the 15th annual Award of Distinction ceremony.
Staff are being recognized for their extraordinary work and outstanding commitment to public education.
Superintendent of Student Achievement Karen Edgars tells Heart FM the awards coincide with Education Week and notes, “Individuals within and outside our Board are doing phenomenal things in the name of supporting our students and improving student learning. We thank them all."
Recipients are being recognized for outstanding contributions for things like helping students with Autism Spectrum Disorder to succeed academically and socially, organizing donations and distribution of thousands of backpacks full of school supplies to students in need, making schools safer and more respectful places to learn, and for implementing a club for girls to develop self-esteem and serve the community.
The event is actually being streamed live this year on the Board web site at www.tvdsb.ca.
The event will feature tributes highlighting the contributions of each recipient, as well as 32 nominees who will also be recognized.
Over 250 people are expected to attend the ceremony tonight at the Thames Room Education Centre in London starting at 7 p.m.
