The streets of Woodstock will see more walkers then usual tomorrow night.
WOODSTOCK - Lots of people will be hitting the streets of Woodstock tomorrow for the Coldest Night of the Year Walk.
Sixty seven teams and 377 walkers have signed up for the event so far and they have raised exactly $174,727 for The Inn of Oxford County. The organizers had originally set a fundraising goal of $100,000 but they surpassed that goal earlier this month. They set a new fundraising goal of $150,000 and surpassed it over the Family Day long weekend.
All of the walkers will gather in the The Inn's parking lot on Saturday February 26th.
Check in will begin at 4:00 p.m. and there will be opening remarks at 5:00 p.m. There's a two-kilometre walk and a five-kilometre walk and they will both begin at 5:15 pm. There will be light meal served for the walkers at 5:30 p.m.
Check in will close at 6:00 p.m, the rest stop will close at 6:30 p.m. and both routes will close at 7:00 p.m.
All of the walkers should dress in warm clothing, wear water proof shoes or boots, bring their own water bottle and bring a face mask for personal use or if they want to go inside. It's also recommended that walkers bring a cellphone for emergencies and extra snacks if they have any food allergies or sensitivities
All participants must register online here in advance. Walkers over the age of 18 will receive a free CNOY toque if they raise over $150. Walkers under the age of 18 only have to raise a minimum $75 to get the toque.
