OPP Say the quick actions of a 31 year old father, likely saved his 9 day old baby boy today after he was able to avoid a head on collision in Norfolk County.
PORT DOVER - OPP are crediting the quick actions of a 31 year old father who likely save his family's life today.
The father was driving with his 9 day old baby boy and the babies mother when they almost collided head on with a vehicle on Concession Road 6 near Port Dover. Constable Ed Sanchuk says the dad was able to avoid the head on collision.
"The father had to take evasive action after they almost collided head on with a vehicle travelling east bound. That mom and dad were carrying their brand new, 9 day old baby boy. I'm glad to say that little boy was not injured, there were no injuries in this collision. The quick thinking actions of that dad, as a result of driving that vehicle, the vehicles did side swipe, there was some damage, a tire was blown out and the actual mirror of that vehicle was broken off."
Sanchuk's says luckily everyone was buckled up.
"We are very, very fortunate there were no serious injuries. Talking to mom and dad, they had their baby boy properly buckled into his car seat and seat belts definitely do come in handy, especially in these situations."
The 22 year old woman in the other car is facing charges and the investigation is ongoing. Sanchuk will update us on those charges, once he gets that information.
