Pittock Park will be the location for the 21st annual Woodstock Dragon Boat Festival
WOODSTOCK - Are you excited to hear the drums?
The 21st annual Woodstock Dragon Boat Festival is on August 11th.
Festival Coordinator, Dave Harris says the event will be exciting for anyone watching.
"We have 38 teams registered this year. It will be at Pittock Conservation area running from 9am right through until 5pm in the afternoon and there will be action all day long. So people can come out to the event throughout the day."
Spectators can come enter the park and watch the race for free.
Harris explains how a dragon boat operates.
"The boat is powered by paddlers that number in about 20 per boat and it is steered by somebody at the rear called the steer-person. At the front of the boat there is a chair on the bow with a drum and there is a drummer there that help the paddlers keep time."
There is one local team racing called the Woodstock Waves.
Registration is still open for any last minute teams.
