WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service has a new Deputy Chief.
Rod Wilkinson will take on the new role that was left vacated by Darren Sweazy's retirement earlier this year. The Woodstock Police Services Board made the announcement on Wednesday. Rod Wilkinson has been a member of the WPS for 21 years. He has held several titles during that time with various positions in many divers operational units. He also has extensive technical and supervisory experience in Criminal Investigations, Court Services, Patrol, Incident Command and Tactical Operations.
During his free time, Wilkinson enjoys outdoor activities throughout the seasons, whether it be fishing on the lake, golfing, or putting the skates on. Much of his time is spent with his wife and 3 kids relaxing at home or travelling to his kids sporting events.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says the Board is very pleased with this appointment.
“The Board is very pleased that Rod will be the next Deputy Chief of Police of the Woodstock Police Service. Rod has a long track record with the Woodstock Police Service in various positions, and his continued skills development clearly demonstrates that Officers who want to advance and meet new challenges in their career, can do so in the “Friendly City.” The Board looks forward to working with Rod as we continue to serve our growing community.”
Wilkinson will begin his position as Deputy Chief September 14, 2020.
