Imagine four sisters during the Civil War era, all dreaming of becoming brave and intelligent young women.
WOODSTOCK - A literary classic is about to hit the stage at Theatre Woodstock.
Little Women will make it's debut this Friday night and there will be seven performances total before the final curtain call on December 7th.
It's about Jo March, a headstrong young women who aspires to become a great American novelist during the Civil War. Director Lenore Butcher says the play also tells the story of her three sisters.
"It also tells the story of her older sister Meg who is learning to become a wife and mother and what that means for her, her younger sister Amy who is trying to sort herself out and get herself an identity apart from her three older sisters, and Beth and what she does as the center of the four sisters to try and keep everybody together and related."
The production features 13 cast members, including Loren Tucker. She's excited to bring the character of Jo to life on stage.
"I think the cool thing about Jo is no matter who you are, whatever age you are or your gender, you can see a little bit of yourself in Jo. You can always relate to the gap between who you feel you are and who others want you to be. I think that's ultimately what she's all about at the end of the day."
Rendall Lackenbauer plays Laurie in the production.
"He's a very charming boy who comes to the March's upset over a family urgency. There's this feeling of he's missing something in his life, and these little women give it to him."
The show has a 2.5 hour and it's a tearjerker, so make sure you bring some Kleenex. The show is also geared towards an audience over the age of 13.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office or through the Theatre Woodstock website online here.
Lenore Butcher, Loren Tucker, and Rendall Lackenbauer stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Monday November 24th. You can listen to the full interview below:
