It's the perfect way to kick off the weekend before St. Patrick's Day.
WOODSTOCK - Maggie's Wake will return to Theatre Woodstock, just in time for St. Patrick's Day weekend.
They're a Canadian contemporary folk group will hit the stage this Friday evening.
Tara Dunphy is one of the band members. She says they will be performing traditional celtic music along with some of their original material.
"You see twin fiddles, flutes, whistles and then all of a sudden you are overwhelmed by different kinds of rhythms not that you would expect from a celtic band. It's really upbeat, it's very exciting and there is a good chance you will find yourself dancing in the aisles."
Maggie's Wake released its debut album during St. Patrick's Day last year and Dunphy says they will also perform a new original song.
"It's all about Ontario and it's a really great sing-a-long so we always get everybody in on that one. It's going to be such a fun evening and we're looking really looking forward to it."
She says it will be a fun time and you'll still have time to have more fun afterward.
"We play two sets that are usually around 45 minutes to 50 minutes long. So the show is done early enough that you can head over to the Charles Dickens Pub and have a couple of pints before you have to go to bed."
The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased for $40 each through the Theatre Woodstock website. You can visit the Maggie's Wake website and YouTube page to learn more about the band.
Tara Dunphy called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday March 11th. You can listen to the full interview below:
