If you're planning on having a drink while watching the Patriots and Eagles face off in Super Bowl LII, make sure you arrange a ride home beforehand.
Whether you're a fan of the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles or Justin Timberlake; Norfolk OPP want to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time this Super Bowl weekend.
If you're planning on drinking while watching Super Bowl LII, Constable Ed Sanchuk says you should arrange a ride home.
"It's one of the biggest and entertaining national sporting events for families gathering to socialize and watch the game, but it can also become one of the most dangerous days on the roadways due to impaired driving. I can guarantee you that as you travel on the roadways across the province; you are going to see an increased police presence in R.I.D.E Programs."
Sanchuk says the host is also responsible for anyone drinking alcohol under their roof.
"Please make sure that all of your guests designate their sober drivers in advance, pour properly measured drinks, don't free pour or serve doubles, serve drinks rather than having a self serve bar and please don't serve alcohol to an already intoxicated person."
If someone was to have a drink at your party and hurt someone while driving themselves home, the victim could sue you as a result.
