The show commemorates the theatre's 30th anniversary.
EMBRO - The next production at Thistle Theatre is sure to make you laugh.
The Perils of Persephone will make it's debut on Friday, November 14th. It will run for two consecutive weekends, with the final curtain call on Sunday, November 23rd.
Doug Turvey says it's set in Persephone Township in Huron County, after a truck with nuclear waste crashes into a swamp, forcing the locals and those from the neighbouring town to evacuate.
"So they call the Minister of the Environment and when he comes in, they find out that it's not actually nuclear waste and it's really something else. So they have to call in somebody from Toronto to fix everything because people might lose their jobs."
The play is written by Dan Needles, a Canadian playwright known for the Wingfield plays.
John Turvey is the producer of the show. He says The Perils of Persephone was actually the first production to ever hit the stage at Thistle Theatre 30 years ago.
"Our Director from that original production, Sue Garner, is back! She is directing this show as well and there are a couple other members of the crew who were also around for that first production. It's a nice mix of nostalgia in the sense of having people who were there 30 years ago, and having brand new people in this production as well."
Tickets are $25 each and they can be purchased online here or at the box office.
John and Doug Turvey stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday November 4th. You can listen to the full interview below:
