The Oxford Drive in will have a special live performance of Thriller before their double feature over the next two weekends thanks to volunteers from WCI and Artistic Movement.
WOODSTOCK - Zombies are taking over the Oxford Drive in over the next couple of weekends.
Before the double features the drive in will be playing the iconic Michael Jackson Thriller music video each Friday and Saturday night starting tomorrow. WCI teacher and one of the directors of the Music Theatre Program David Dejonge says several volunteer students will be in attendance to add to the thrills.
"We have about 50 live performers becoming zombies and dancing along outside at the Drive In, socially distanced and masked along with the live film, so it is going to be quite the experience."
Dejonge said the zombies will appear out of nowhere, and may even walk right by your window.
"So you're sitting in your car, watching the Michael Jackson movie, perhaps it's new to you, if you are a kid, or perhaps it's nostalgic. As the film gets a little darker and zombies start appearing in the film, so they start appearing amongst the cars. They will appear out of nowhere and wandering through all the vehicles in the entire lot, until they make their way to the front where the main dance sequence begins."
The students will be doing the dance, just like they do in the film. This is being done thanks to volunteers from WCI and the Dance Studio Artistic Movement and choreographer Victoria Bannon. It is not associated with the Thames Valley District School Board and the owner of the Oxford Drive In, Adam Shaw has been transparent with the local health unit. This event goes above and beyond recommended distancing and masking guidelines.
The shows will start at 7:00 pm, Friday and Saturday over the next two weekends. You can find more information about the show and the double features online here.
