Councillor Deb Gilvesy throws hat in for Mayor of Tillsonburg
TILLSONBURG - A Councillor in Tillsonburg is running for Mayor.
Deb Gilvesy has served one term as a member of Council and she feels her experience in leadership roles would be an asset to the community.
Gilvesy stressed that no one person can make real change on their own, but if elected, she said the first thing she would look to do is assess local police services and see if the demands of the town are being met. However, she has many concerns should she be Mayor of Tillsonburg.
"We are running out of industrial land and we need to develop the next phase and that needs to be a priority. Attainable housing is a big one, especially for young working people. That needs to be a priority because you can bring in industry but if you don't have employees to fill the jobs in the industry, it's going to create problems."
The municipal election is scheduled for October 24th.
