OPP say they clocked a man doing 150 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone in Tillsonburg.
TILLSONBURG - A 34 year old man from Tillsonburg will be walking for a bit after getting charged with racing.
Police say they stopped the man on Tuesday morning after he blew through a stop sign at the intersection of Concession Street and Quartertown Line in Tillsonburg. OPP say the man was going 150 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. They caught up with him on Lowrie Line and charged the man with racing and disobey a stop sign.
His driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days and the vehicle has been impounded for the prescribed 7-day period.
The OPP say the man is lucky they caught him when they did because a crash at that speed could have been devastating.
"Drivers who engage in high risk driving behaviour put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it difficult for drivers to react to change, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injury or death will occur."
