The latest fund for development is out. The Southwestern Ontario Development fund has been launched and is being favoured by Tillsonburg's Mayor John Lessif. Lessif was excited to hear where the dollars are being directed. He said it's going to promote economic growth locally. "It's designed for the private sector, not for government run or non-charitable organizations. This is directed at economic development for businesses, so the range is wide," said Lessif. Lessif said he talked with the Minister of Economic Development and Innovation Brad Duguid and found the project targets a favourable region. "What I'm particularly happy about is that he has specifically identified rural and small urban that they'll be dollars directed in that area. So the challenge for the region is to promote it and encourage entrepreneurs to tap into those resources to help them expands or gain employment and get up and running a new business," said Lessif. Tourism, manufacturing, and cultural industries are a few of the sectors being targeted. The fund is available through a business or regional stream.
