The Town of Tillsonburg has received a $743,510 grant from the Province for the T:GO intercommunity transportation service.
TILLSONBURG - The Province is providing another $743,510 in funding to the Town of Tillsonburg, through the Community Transportation Grant Program.
The money will be used towards T:GO, the Towns intercommunity transportation service. This will help position the town to keep the service operating after the program has completed. T:GO has been given more time to fully establish transportation services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Oxford County MPP Ernie Hardeman says Tillsonburg is eligible to receive provincial funding of up to $371,755 per year in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
"This is excellent news for the residents of Tillsonburg and Oxford. This additional funding support will help ensure people have access to transportation services that are needed in our community. As we recover from COVID-19, reliable transportation services will be key for accessing life’s essentials and for supporting the local economy."
Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney says the Community Transportation Grant Program is currently providing up to $30 million over five years (2018-2023) to 38 municipalities.
"The Community Transportation Grant Program is making life easier for people living in areas with few public transportation options. The additional investment in local and intercommunity transportation services will help residents – including Indigenous people, seniors and people with disabilities get to work, school or appointments and will give communities added security as they recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and plan for the future."
Services supported through the program include bus service, on-demand shared rides and door-to-door transportation services that support various population groups.
