TMMC Donates $100,000 to OCCHC Mobile Health Outreach Bus

The Oxford County Community Health Centre has received a $100,000 cheque from TMMC for the Mobile Health Outreach Bus.

OXFORD COUNTY - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) is donating $100,000 to the Oxford County Community Health Centre Mobile Health Outreach Bus.

This is a huge investment for the Mobile Health Outreach Bus. They deliver a wide range of services to the homeless, street involved and precariously housed populations all across Oxford County.

The bus brings Mental Health and Addiction supports right to the people who need in most in our community. They also provide medical care to anyone in need in our community.

OCCHC Board Chair Alisha Stubbs says the outreach bus has been a huge benefit to our community.

“The Mobile Health Bus has been an invaluable, practical way to increase access to services for our community members who often face multiple barriers. The TMMC community investment helps to significantly facilitate the incredible supports the OCCHC has to offer to all members of our community.”

OCCHC Executive Director Randy Peltz says great things can happen when you strongly believe that it’s the right thing.

"The Mobile Health Bus has far surpassed what we thought was possible in the initial days, particularly within a rural context. TMMC has demonstrated a wonderful belief in the mobile service, which only serves to strengthen a sense of well-being and belonging in Oxford County, regardless of who you are, or your circumstances.”

Derek Kidnie VP of Administration with TMMC explains why they wanted to help out with this donation.

“At Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) we believe in innovation and challenging the status quo. It is part of our DNA. We call it Starting Our Impossible. We see these qualities reflected in how the OCCHC approaches its programs and services, while fostering hope and wellness. We are happy to support this unique program to reach the at-risk population in Oxford County."

United Way Oxford Executive Director Kelly Gilson calls the mobile outreach bus a game changer.

“The minute our United Way volunteers began to review OCCHC’s funding application for the Mobile Health Outreach Bus pilot we knew it would be a game-changer for serving people across Oxford! It brings vital health and well-being services to those in need by making supports much more accessible, relevant and dignified. TMMC’s generous contribution will ensure that those important services continue and will allow the staff of OCCHC and their valuable Partners to continue to build and deepen relationships while helping those in need.”
