Thousands of student athletes are ready to compete in the 13th annual Elementary Schools Regional Track and Field Finals on Wednesday, June 6 at Western University?s TD Waterhouse Stadium. More than 11,000 student athletes from about 150 schools across the Thames Valley school district took part in 12 regional meets to qualify for the Finals. Students in five different age categories from Grades 4 to 8 will participate in nine different events: high jump, long jump, triple jump, softball throw, 100-metre, 400-metre, 800-metre, 1500-metre races and the 4 x 100-metre relay. The meet goes Wednesday starting at 8:30 a.m. Keep tuned to Heart FM for possible announcements if the event gets postponed due to weather. However, at this point the forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 22-degrees on Wednesday.
