Tree Planting Day For Large Impact

Submitted by Rotary

Come out and impact the earth at the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary club family tree planting day.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock-Oxford Rotary club's family tree planting day is coming up in April.

Join the club at Burgess Park on Tecumseh Street at 10:00 a.m. on April 21 to have some family fun and plant some trees.

President of the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary club, Grace Carbilledo explains the purpose of this event.

"This is through the initiative of our Rotary International President, Ian H.S. Riseley,  being an environmentalist he wants this to be his legacy and to raise a big impact on earth and one of the things we can do is plant trees."

Carbilledo says originally the club had asked for 50 small trees.

"As of this time we asked for 50 trees, but the city is going to give us about 200 trees. These are like 4 feet trees. We just have to dig about a foot to plant these trees. These are bigger trees because they said the smaller ones the deer might eat and we just want to make sure that these trees will survive."

The Woodstock-Oxford Rotary club is encouraging people to come out to the event as it is open to the public.

There is a free BBQ lunch afterwards hosted by the city at Southside Park.
