Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be meeting with Canada's premiers later today to discuss the anti-COVID mandate protests across the country.
OTTAWA/WINDSOR - Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says he has reached a deal with the organizers of the Freedom Convoy protest.
He has agreed to meet with the anti-COVID mandate protestors, as long as they move out of residential areas of the city and stay in the Parliament Hill area. The protestors have until noon today to fulfill their end of the deal.
Meanwhile in Windsor, the Canada Border Services Agency says the Ambassador Bridge border crossing has officially reopened. The bridge was closed for almost a week due to an anti-COVID mandate protest. Police towed vehicles and removed protestors from the site yesterday. Over two dozen people were arrested and most of them are facing mischief related charges.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with federal officials and cabinet ministers yesterday to discuss the protests across the country and what his government could do to put a stop to them. He's also going to discuss the matter with the premiers later today.
Oxford County had it's own Freedom Convoy protest on Saturday. It started in Tillsonburg early in the afternoon and it passed through Ingersoll, Woodstock and Norwich. A post on the OPP West Region Twitter page says the convoy ended at around 5:30 p.m.
